WORLD OCEAN DAY 2022
Every year on June 8th, the globe observes World Ocean Day. Every year, World Ocean Day is observed to raise awareness of the ocean and its relevance to human survival. The ocean is home to various aquatic species, including fish, sharks, dolphins, starfish, octopus, and many others.
Every year, World Oceans Day serves as a reminder of the importance of the ocean in our lives. The seas, in addition to producing food and medicine, are an important aspect of the biosphere, which is why they are also known as the earth's lungs. Human activities in the water have an impact on the health of the oceans, which support all life on Earth.
The Day's goal is to educate the public about these consequences and motivate individuals all around the world to collaborate on a long-term management plan for the world's seas. 2022 marks World Ocean Day. For the first time, the United Nations will commemorate the annual event on 8 June 2022 in a hybrid style, with a live broadcast from the UN Headquarters in New York. The subject for World Ocean Day 2022, "Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean," will be a high point of this event.
The Beginnings of World Ocean Day:
On World Ocean Day 2022, you may participate in the following projects to help safeguard the ocean:
Water management is using less water in order to prevent excess runoff and pollution from entering our ocean. To prevent pollution, choose non-hazardous chemicals and properly dispose of herbicides, insecticides, and cleaning products.
Waste Reduction -
Reduce the quantity of garbage you generate. 12.7 million tonnes of plastic enter our oceans each year. If we modify our connection with single-use plastic, it will have a big impact.
Reduce Vehicle Pollution -
The maritime ecosystem is fragile and changeable, making it especially susceptible. As the climate warms, our ocean heats. Use fuel-efficient automobiles, public transit wherever possible, or try riding a bike while heading out.
Make Informed Seafood Choices -
Despite the fact that our ocean is home to almost a million species and provides food and income to over 800 million people throughout the world, fishing is the most serious threat to marine biodiversity. When seafood is ethically produced, it may be part of a diet that is rich in human health benefits and low in environmental consequences.
Utilize Your Voice -
Make a social media profile! Use your voice to urge others to join your cause. If you care about our ocean, planet, or consumer habits, your voice is one of the most powerful tools we have.
You can stop using throwaway plastic cups, plates, utensils, and bottles, or you may switch from single-use to reusable plastic bags. Also, buy food and cleaning goods in bulk to save money on needless plastic packaging.
Reduce the Carbon Level in the Atmosphere -
CO2 leads to the mortality of corals and the degradation of marine ecosystems by increasing the acidity of our seas.
Participate in a Local Cleaning Drive or Hold Your Own -
You can volunteer to spend the day cleaning up the water with a group of friends. Working is challenging, but it is vital to keep garbage out of streams and the ocean.
