Examples Of the Several Fire Hazards at Work

Examples Of the Several Fire Risks at Work

Electrical Risks: The major causes of workplace fires are malfunctioning electrical systems and improper usage of electrical equipment. Fires may be caused by frayed wiring insulation, faulty ground connections, or overloaded fuses, circuits, motors, or outlets.

Portable Burners: The plan administrator must give the go-ahead for all portable heaters. Tip-over protection, which turns the unit off when it is tipped over, is a requirement for portable electric warmers.

Office Fire Risks: Industrial buildings are not the only places where fires can occur. The increased usage of electrical technology, such as computers, has raised the likelihood of fires in offices.

Welding, cutting, and operating with open flames provide clear fire threats in the workplace. In some instances, fire watches must be stationed nearby, and it may be necessary to erect barriers between welding operations and combustible objects.

Flammable and Combustible Materials: If there are flammable and combustible materials at your workplace, the plan administrator needs to frequently check for their presence.
  • Class A Combustibles: These are materials that are commonly found in offices and other non-specialized spaces, including as wood, paper, fabric, rubber, and plastics.
  • Class B Combustibles: These include flammable liquids (such as paints and lacquers that are based on oil), flammable gases, and flammable aerosols.
Smoking at Work: In a functional FPP, smoking is forbidden in all corporate structures. Additionally, some outdoor spaces might be designated as no-smoking zones. Signs reading "NO SMOKING" should be placed in areas where smoking is not permitted outside.
